Dr David Kitchen

“Cataract surgery can make an immense difference to a person’s quality of life. We encourage anyone who is suffering with poor vision due to cataracts to come in and see us. We make the process fast and affordable.”

Dr Kitchen has practised widely throughout regional Queensland, including Mackay and Bundaberg, but since 2007 settled with his young family in Rockhampton and now consults from CQ Eye and Central Queensland Cataract Centre in Rockhampton and Gladstone.

All surgery is carried out by Dr Kitchen who has personally performed more than 20,000 eye operations to date, using state-of-the-art equipment. Dr Kitchen has been a consultant eye specialist for over two decades and has a special interest in cataract and intraocular refractive surgery, medical retina (primarily age related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy), glaucoma and oculoplastic surgery.

Dr Kitchen is also a Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology with the University of Queensland. He is heavily involved in the teaching of ophthalmology to final year medical students, general practitioners as well as trainee and advanced optometrists.

He enjoys a round of golf when his schedule allows and is thankful to be raising his family within a friendly community.
